9/21 HOME AFTER TRANSPLANT

I AM FINALLY HOME AFTER MY TRANSPLANT!!!!!!! ❤️🫶🏼

Yesterday was a long, emotional, and physically exhausting day transferring from the hospital to home, but it was also one of the best feelings I have had in a very, very, very long time. 🥹

I am so incredibly grateful for every message, every prayer, every gift from my Amazon Wish List to help me get settled and started with my recovery at home, and especially for the people who have stepped up to help me with my daily activities while I adjust to my new body and begin healing with my brand-new-to-me liver. 🫶🏼

I honestly cannot even put into words how grateful I am. Nothing I say could ever truly express it.

I have another appointment with my liver transplant team on Wednesday for follow-up. For the next few weeks, we will be going back at least weekly, eventually moving to every other week, then monthly, and so on throughout the next several months and the first year.

We have also decided that it is best for Brandon to enroll in a homeschool program for the time being. Because my immune system is so fragile right now, we need to do everything we can to protect me from getting sick. But I truly believe this will be a wonderful experience for both of us.

Brandon will still be able to help me each day, and I think this time together will also give both of us an opportunity to heal internally from all of the stress and trauma our family has experienced over the past year.

I am especially excited about getting to spend more time with him and doing things together that I have never really been able to do. I have never had this kind of one-on-one time with Brandon because there have always been other children in the home.

This was actually the plan I was so excited about when Kim left for college — having some special time with Brandon and experiencing life together for a while. Unfortunately, that never got to happen because I became sick almost immediately after she left, or at least that is when I first noticed things starting to go downhill.

Now, we finally get that time. ❤️

This website will continue to change as I move through recovery. It will become not only a place for updates about my own journey, but also a place where I can advocate for living liver donation, share information for others who are waiting for a transplant, and hopefully help people find ways to support others going through similar situations.

I will continue posting updates along the way and sharing this journey with all of you.

We have also decided to keep the GoFundMe on this page. I am still unable to work, and the bills certainly don’t stop just because I received my transplant. Your continued support will help me through this recovery period while I focus on healing and getting strong again.

I am so incredibly excited for this new chapter. ❤️

And I am even more excited knowing that I get to watch the people who have helped me so much continue to be part of this journey — watching God work through each of you to help me heal, rebuild my life, and help my family heal too.

Thank you will never be enough.

But from the bottom of my heart…

THANK YOU. ❤️🙏🏼

Here’s to healing, rebuilding, making memories, and this beautiful second chance at life. 🫶🏼

Passing this along is genuinely useful.
